Description:
Cast of Theseus and the Minotaur. From the shoulder piece found at Olympia of a bronze cuirass. Compare Olympia IV Plate G and Friederichs-Wolters 351. The Athenian artist copied the Skironmetope of the temple of Hephaistos (Hephaestus) at Athens, commonly called the Theseum. Hence he commits the error of having his hero hurl the Minotaur from a rock. 4th Century B.C.
