- Description:
- Cast of terminal bust of Perikles, of certain identity, guaranteed by the antique inscription of a counterpart herma in the British Museum. Compare Visconti’s Iconographic greique plate 15. The signature, by Kresilas of Crete, of a portrait of P. on the Akropolis, is extant. Modern opinion sees copies of Kresilas’s work in the Vatican and London busts. Compare Furtwaengler’s Kresilas in his Masterpieces of Greek sculpture.
