Bowl, lacquer, with wood base: half-sphere shape, small foot. Interior elaborately decorated depicting the reflection(?) of a tree in water, with willow branches hanging down. The tree trunk is in high relief with a very textured surface. The surface is covered greatly by inlaid gold foil, the rest sprinkled with fold filings and grainy dark particles (sabi?). The water: graduated sprinkling of gold in stylized lines. Red, smooth glossy ground. Rim is gold. 2 small characters and seal near trunk. Lower side is rough. High relief; cursive characters on other side in gold (taka-maki); Height 5 cm; Diameter 15.5 cm.
