Burden board. Carved and incised reddish brown wood. Handles at opposite ends. Chevrons of parallel lines, triangles with linear fillers, etc. 4 corners of board stained darker brown. Depression on underside to fit head. Length across top 42.5 centimeters, concave top. From Nigeria (Northern Plateau), Jarawa peoples. Context of use: called "head-carrying board" by collector. Probably used to carry loads in baskets on top of head.
