- Purchased from Albertina Lopez Martin (also known as A. Lopez Cumez) in Mendocino, CA, in 2007. One paper tag and one cloth tag attached to hem: (removed) Paper tag: “ACW #19” Cloth tag: “Tzute. Purchased from Albertina Lopez Martin [later Lopez Cumes] of Santa Catarina Palopó, Guatemala, at A’s weaving class, Mendocino Art Center, California, in 2007. Brown = ixcaco, natural brown cotton." Tzute. Two panels, each with one hemmed end and one finished selvage, connected by decorative stitching (randa) in horizontal dark blue, brown, & green bands. Plain weave. Predominately green, dark blue, brown, and white warp stripes. Symmetrical green warp stripes, flanked by dark blue warps, containing narrow red warp stripes, alternate with green warp stripes, also flanked by dark blue warps, containing dark blue warp stripes with evenly spaced warp ikat “dots”. One wide dark blue warp stripe placed on each panel. Brown = natural brown cotton. Overall impression is of brown and green cloth.
