Woven by Bertina Lopez Cumez for her husband. Purchased from her at her home in SCP in July 2009. 2 paper tags at seam near waist: (removed) —“ACW #8” —“Men’s pants. Woven by Bertina Lopez Cumez for her husband Grigorio, and purchased from her at her home in Santa Catarina Palopó, Guatemala, in July 2009. The men no longer wear these. Bertina said weavers don’t like to make them: 4 panels = too much work!" 4 panels, 3 selvage cloth. Finished selvages are at waist. Bottoms of both pants legs are hemmed. Predominantly red warp with white warp stripes. Dense multicolored singlefaced geometric supplementary weft patterning, predominantly blue.
