Description:
Mortar basket; twined. Warp is Willow (Salix), weft is yellow Pine. White pattern is Beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax). Red color is Maidenahir (Adiantum pedatum) dyed in Alder (Alnus rubra). Rim bound with Redbud (Cercis occidentalis). Shows signs of use but in good condition. 2-faced overlay; white band with repeated red and black vertical zigzags; also thin white horizontal stripes and dotted stripes. Lower third of basket is done in 3-strand twining. A small hoop is latticed- twined to the outside 7.5 cm from the bottom; a hoop is sewn on to form rim at the top, with split redbud shoots.
