Short section of cloth cut from a long length of fabric woven and ready for market. Made by professional male weaver on "horizontal narrow band treadle loom." Finished strips, are then cut and sewn into garments by tailor. Samples collected in marketplace, weavers' compounds, and some with the help of a Yoruba master weaver. A duplicate set was made for the American Museum of Natural History, New York City. Fû, or fuhù: a term for a coarse cloth with a minimal pattern. Weaver's name
