Garment, sumba cloth, Ikat; red, white, and blue figures: lions, mythological, and geometric on dark-brown and red ground; 10 plus years old [as of 1984]; self-fringe; red, white, and blue multicolored border. Largely ceremonial, can be worn on shoulder or waist; worn by men only. Also given to men as “Feminine gift” by bride’s father to seal wedding contract as well as often used as burial cloth. Length 240 cm. Width 112 cm. fringe included.
