Small very old flaring coiled basket with mended bottom. Tag "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled flaring basket bowl, probably used for sifting, with food debris. The basket has a coiled start, with many mends around it. The basket has a mixed rod and splint coil foundation. The wefts are redbud, peeled and unpeeled. The design includes three V's and three W's as well as some random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped and the rim coil ending is missing. The weft fag ends are primarily clipped. The moving ends are primarily concealed, with some clippped. The weft stitches are around 40% split on the back face. The basket has an exterior workface, the work direction is to the right, and the slant of weft twist is primarily down to the right.
