Twined. Design band comprises dark circles with triangles facing in opposite directions. Tag "Kl. R. Tr. Att.". There is a swastika in ink on the backface. Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket plaque. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably hazel. The background weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is beargrass, maidenhair fern, and red dyed woodwardia. From the starting knot there is .25 inch of three strand twining, followed by plain twining. That is followed by a .5 inch of openwork done in crossed warps with one weft row of plain twining in the center. The rim is formed by two weft rows of plain twining and at least one rod that was added to support the rim. The rim is covered with predominantly beargrass as well as maidenhair fern, and probably red dyed woodwardia in three clusters. The design is comprised of a horizontal band of triangles in red and black. The plaque has an up to the right slant of weft twist and rightward work direction. The overlay is primarily one-sided but there is one band of design on the backface. The basket is possibly Whilkut, based the band on the backface.
