Pistol, muzzle loading, percussion. Lindsay’s “Young America”, Cal. .45 smoothbore. 81/4 part octagonal, part round barrel. 12” overall. Marked “Lindsay’s Young America patented Oct. 9 1860”. Superimposed charges ignited by action of two hammers. Extremely rare. Tested and declined by the United States Army during the Civil War. However, the Army accepted rifles of similar design from Lindsay.
