Description:
Stool (low) or headrest, carved reddish brown hardwood (one piece), patinated. Long base is bifurcated at one end and has handhold in center. Saddle-shaped seat incised with "Ibajan" (Ibadan?) and "Yamunini". Length of base 47.5 centimeters. From West Africa, possibly Nigeria. Context of use: see Lobi stool illustration in "African Art in Motion" (xerox in accession envelope).
