Twined, conical. Tag "Modoc type". Second tag "Modoc". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined gathering basket model with looped strap. The starting knot radiates up. The warp is made of tule cordage. The weft materials are probably tule, mud-dyed tule, and an overlay of black material. The basket is plain twined until an inch below the rim where there are two weft rows of three strand twining. The design is horizontal bands of alternating brown and white. Directly below the rim there are diagonal lines. The workface is on the exterior. The work direction is to the right. The rim is comprised of the cordage warps that are bent over to the interior and bound down. The basket has a down to the right slant of twist. This is basket is attributed to the Modoc due to the materials and cordage warp.
