Muzzle loading, percussion rifle. Half-stocked plains rifle with 34 inch octagon barrel. Caliber ca. .52 inches. Small, round patch box mounted in right side of stock. Lock marked “A. W, Spies” and “Warrented”; barrel marked “J. H. Bersto, Buffalo, N. Y.” Both were gun makers of Buffalo; gun possibly made of parts.
