Description:
Coiled, plate shape. Tag "Mission Type". Per Ralph Shanks: Shallow basket bowl, made for sale. Deergrass bundle foundation. Sumac background with orange and dyed black juncus designs. Designs are six orange lightening-like rays radiating out from the center and six black triangles along the sides. The workface is on the interior. The basket has a rightward work direction, and a plain wrapped rim. Weft fag ends are predominately clipped with a few bound under. Based on the presence of clipped fag ends and the design layout this basket is attributed to the Cahuilla.
