Description:
Imperial Era silk sleeve band; soft pink gauze-like fabric divided into 3 segments. Center section is embroidered w/ birds (kingfisher, paradise fly catcher and unidentifed bird in center) in shades of blue and cream/white with red legs and beaks, surrounded with gold and silver couching stitch floral motifs and bordered by stylized, gold-embroidered flowers/stems/keaves. One side of center panel is embroidered with repeated patterns of vegetal motifs, the other with alternating ribbon/ball/leaf motifs in gold and silver. Gold threads always couched w/ red; silver threads always couched w/ white. One long selvege edge has been folded under and finished with tiny, embroidered blue triangles edged w/ white thread. Back has remnants for backing paper glued on 4 sides.
