Huipil: Backstrap-loomed, warp predominant plain weave. Single and two-faced supp. weft brocading. Two pieces joined back, front, side seams by hand stitching. End selvedges loom-finished, neck hole slit and bound with black velvet -machine stitched. Sleeve openings bound with black velvet machine-stitched.

MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES: Backstrap-loomed with green singles cotton thread. Suppl. weft of cotton, (multicolors), and silk (pink). CONTEXT OF USE: "Huipil de Sanmartineco" one of two distinctive types from Comalapa. Bottom back panel 3" band where weft is cotton, two-ply, yellow. Weaver probably ran out of green yarn. May be cofrádia huipil from San Jose Poaquil because of sacred designs such as the host, chalice. (Arriola de Geng). CONSERVATION: good condition; Black velvet at neck and sleeve openings worn.
