Description:
Tzute, mujer: multipurpose cloth, woman's. Backstrap loomed, warp-faced plain weave, single faced supplementary weft brocading, one piece. Warps cut and uncut, creating a 7 inch fringe on each end. Most of surface covered with supplementary weft brocading, one corner has approximately 7 knots at point where weaving end and fringe begins, some fringe appears to have possibly been braided. Iconography consists of geometric and abstract designs, birds and animal figures. Cotton, 2 two-ply in red, green, navy, pink, white, maroon, turquoise, brown, dk. and lt. yellow. Cotton 6 two-ply red, turquoise. Cotton 2, 3, 4, 6 two-ply dark green, pink, brick, red, white, navy, black, light and dark yellow, rayon or silk 4 two-ply fuchsia and orange. Good condition: side selvedges fraying, yarns coming loose - noted 1991.
