MATERIALS, TECHNIQUES: Cotton in two singles white, and 6 or 8 singles red. Native name and meaning: Huipil casamiento- Women's wedding blouse. CONTEXT OF USE: Traditional ceremonial huipil made of 3 lienzos with hand sewn randa and side seams in alternating colors of red and purple. White base cloth has narrow purple stripes in the warp and occasional horizontal ribbing made from using heavier weft. Suppl. weft brocading in shoulder areas only, with trees of life, floral patterns and animals (deer, monkeys, double headed eagles, birds). Head hole is finished with blue fabric that has worn heavily0 only strands remain of frayed blue cloth; two roundels are at center front and back of neck area, done in same blue cloth. Dating relates to use of "hilo morado de nicoya" quality of yarn, designs on shoulders, randa and weft ribs narrower than 3-29706 (Arriola de Geng) . CONSERVATION: Good. Heavily stained
