Description:
Garment, sumba cloth, Ikat; red, white, brown, and blue figures: goose-like on either end, zoomorphic, anthropomorphic, and geometric in center field on red and dark-brown ground; black and white decorative border; self-fringe. Largely ceremonial, can be worn on shoulder or waist; worn by men only. Also given to men as “Feminine gift” by bride’s father to seal wedding contract as well as often used as burial cloth. Length 264 cm. Width 106 cm. fringe included.
