The reverse is inscribed with caption, date and signature (Shunfa 順發). The rim is gilded; the lid is decorated with a boy servant with a guqin, inscribed on the reverse side. Inscription: Bowl: “A renowned scholar of free spirit. Made by Shunfa autumn month of kuichou” (名士風流葵丑之秋月顺发作 mingshi fengliu kuichou zhi qiuyue Shunfa zuo); lid: “Imitate the method of Yuan dynasty men” (仿元人法 fang Yuanren fa); anachronistic red square reign mark in seal script stamped on foot and on lid: “Made in the Tongzhi era” (同治年製 Tongzhi nian zhi).
