From a contemporary letter written by the collector/donor: "An 18 1/2"-inch tall porianong-type bird figure. Not as large as most of this type. It is possibly a “pedro” figure, a women’s fertility symbol used by childless women. It is marvelously designed and executed – delicately abstract – a real beauty.
