Description: "15 1/2" x 1 1/2" Quadrangular. Round handle. Hardwood. 1. I'E KUKU, a finishing beater. Two sides with "halua" (or grooves "'auwaha"); one with 27 grooves, one with 28 (19 and 20 ridges (nao) to the inch). These surfaces called ho'opa'i. One side carved with latitudinal rows of chevrons (like lauma'u, p. 176, Fig 117a but no longitudinal ridges)(obliterated by use). One side with the pu'ili halua (see p. 178, Fig. 121 b) varying to the "ko'eau halua" pattern (see p. 177, Fig 119 a & b for illustration) (see p. 178, Fig. 120 b).
