China. Wine ewer, porcelain with enamel decoration. Peach shape, closed at top, hole in bottom of circular base. Ear shaped handle on side, spout opposite. Somewhat elliptical shape when viewed from top, with depression from sides to top to resemble silhouette of bottom of peach. Peony scroll work in white and turquoise enamels on thick canary-yellow enamel ground over much of body. Large medallion on each side with depiction of chrysanthemums and bird in green, blue and pink enamels on white ground with black ink, on one side; vase with flowers, lozenges, bat, basket, etc. on other. Dark blue band around flared base. Underside of foot and hole glazed white. Foot rim underglaze. Height 14 centimeters, width from end of spout to handle 21 centimeters.
