Comment:
This bag was woven while suspended from the ceiling or rafter. However, as Izumi, Fusako suggests in her article "Miyazaki-ken no Tego" (1975) the base and first 3cms of wefts were probably woven while the warps were in tension on a box frame. This is probably the case in this bag as the warps are continuous, at least during setup and weaving. The cords that reinforce the sides and base are called shizoku or embellishment.
