Overlay twined, globose, black and brown; design. Tag "Klamath R. Tribes att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined globular basket, made for sale. Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably willow. The weft background material is conifer root. The weft overlay background is beargrass, with red dyed woodwardia and maidenhair fern overlay designs. The entire base is done in three strand twining. Plain twining continues to the rim, which is trimmed. The main design is undulating stacked triangles, with six T shapes interspersed throughout. The workface is on the exterior. The overlay is single sided, on the exterior. The basket has a rightward work direction, with up to the right slant of weft twist. The basket is from Northwest California.
