Coiled, bowl shape. Interior tag "Nov 1938 26 Portor". Exterior tag "26. Mission Type". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled basket bowl. Deergrass bundle foundation. Sumac, orange and tan juncus wefts. The design is a checkered pattern in orange and tan juncus. Exterior workface, with a rightward work direction, and bound under weft fag ends. Many of the weft fag ends are aligned to assist in forming the checkered pattern. Plain wrapped rim, with a herringbone coil ending. Possibly a Kumeyaay basket.
