Description:
Enamel mug. The white ground is stenciled with an inscription from 1948 when land reform was beginning. Mao’s “Highest Directive” (最高指示Zuigao zhishi) cautioned government leaders of the risks of inappropriate policies and tactics. “Policy and tactics are the lifeblood of the Party. All levels of leader and comrade must carefully pay attention, and absolutely must not be negligent” (政策和策略是党的生命, 各级领导同志务必充分注意,万万不可粗心大意” Zhengce he celue shi dang de shengming; geji lingdao tongzhi wubi chongfen zhuyi, wanwan buke cuxin tayi). The top of the body is decorated with the long-lived nandina plant and sprayed with orange pigment. A brown bowstring decorates the rim.
