Ponca Medicine Man doll. Cloth stuffed doll w/ painted features and face paint. Dressed in green cotton fabric tunic, black wool leggings and black cotten breechclout decorated w/ yellow edging and metalic trim. Trousers have red edge and beaded outer seams. Hair is of grey yarn with sweat band and a red feather. Yarn arm bands, beaded earrings and silver braclets. Has medicine bundle slung over his shoulder and turkey feather fan in left hand. H = 8”.

Purchased at indian Agency in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Ponca are Siouan stock. Wore hair longish, adopted from the Dakota and copied by the Osage. No barids or scalp lock.
