Twined, old and much used. Tag "Klamath R. Tribes Att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basket bowl. Probably used for cooking. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, indented. The warp material is hazel. The background weft is conifer root. The wefts are comparatively small. The weft design overlay is beargrass. At the starting knot there is a 1 inch of three strand twining. After that 2 inches of plain twining followed by one weft row of three strand twining. After that plain twining continues until the rim. The design is two weft bands of beargrass near the rim. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is only on the outside. The basket is from Northwest California.
