- From Junkanoo Festival, Christmas, 1973. Junkanoo was established during slavery as a time of revelry for blacks during the Christmas season and has evolved into a primary Bahamian aesthetic art form participated in by both black and white Bahamians. Has become a main tourist attraction; celebrated on both the 26th of Dec. and the 1st of January., during the traditional morning hours (4-9). This example worn by a child. won 3rd prize in juvenile division
