Fan with Box (Akome Ogi -- a type of Hi-Ogi fan). Elaborate painted wooden fan (a) with multi-colored tassels and silk cords attached to end pieces of fan; 38.5 cm x 4 cm. Fan has painted blossoms combined with a water and cloud motif on main side and clouds, birds and butterflies on the other side. (b) fan box: both outside and inside of box has calligraphy. Used as a court fan, approx age: 100 yrs. Given to donor by Mrs. Yoshida who said the fan belonged to her mother.
