Per Accession Ledger: Netsuke of man holding a book, with sack on back, Hakuhaku-- Kwoh P'oh. A Chinese sage, who in his old days, was given a considerable title and died in 324 AD. He received, from his master nine books of Taoist magic, and philosophic knowledge, kept in his bag. Chao Tsai stole them from Kwoh P'oh and later they were lost in a fire. So fare precious possessions.
