Very old hemispherical parching basket with mended bottom. Two tags: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled flaring basket bowl, used for parching, but of similar shape as a Yuki cooking basket. The basket has burns on the interior as well as food debris. The basket has a twined start, which has been repaired. The basket has a rod and splint foundation. The wefts are redbud, peeled and unpeeled. The design is four-five horizontal stepped bands. The rim is plain wrapped and the rim coil ending is missing. The weft fag ends are both tucked and clipped. The moving ends are difficult to see, some are concealed. Most of the stitches are not split on the back face and are non-interlocking. The basket has an exterior workface, the work direction is to the right, and the slant of weft twist is primarily down to the right.
