Mudhead carrying crippled katsina (kachina); carved and painted double figure. 1) mudhead with brown body and sack mask with protruding eyes and mouth with flared ends painted black. Knobs on top, each side and back of head are decorated with feathers. Rag kerchief around neck. Black circle with white dot on chest and forearms painted black with white dots. Wears a black kilt tied with a leather thong, white boots, black yarn and leather with bells, knee bands. Carries a stick in one hand. Leather sling around his back and chest in which he carries a paralyzed or crippled katsina. 2) paralyzed katsina is "child sized" compared to the mudhead, with a black case mask with pop eyes, a blue bird track on his forehead, a mouth as wide as the face of painted white teeth, down turned horns on each side of head with 2 blue bands on each, a feather crest with crown, a fur ruff and a long black beard. Body is painted with a black wash, with parallel white line on back, chest and arms; he wears a black breech clout and red boots with a fringed anklet.
