- Object Name: Rice bowl Materials: Glazed Porcelain Diameter at rim: 12.2 cm Date: Mao era, probably early 1960s Country: People’s Republic of China Description: The front features a blue decal of a woman holding large stalks of wheat flanked by four printed characters in red: “Joyfully reporting a bumper harvest” (xi喜, bao报, feng丰, shou收). Each character is set within double circles; an inscription is on the reverse. Double bowstring in blue around rim. Inscription: Body: “Take self-initiative to ensure ample clothing and sufficient food” (自己动手丰衣足食 ziji dongshou fengyi zushi). No seal. Place of Origin: China Condition: Small chips on the rim.
