Twined, bowl shape. Per Ralph Shanks: Atsugewi or other Northeast California tribe. Probably cooking basket, with added weight by cooked in food remains. Basket has straight sides, only slightly flairing. Three strand twining and plain twining at the base, plain twined on sides, and two rows of three strand twining at the rim. Warp sticks are probably hazel. Conifer root weft with beargrass overlay. Black designs are probably maidenhair fern. Designs include V shapes on their sides and checkered pattern below the rim.
