Fairly regular barrel-shaped bead. Slight imperfections in the stone, but without chips and still retaining a warm, lustrous polish. Length, 16.5 mm; diameter at center of bead 14 mm; diameter at ends 7.0 mm; diameter of perforation 1.5 to 2.0 mm. Goethite, or possibly hematite. Cut, bored, and polished. Neither goethite nor hematite beads are recorded from the early Islamic port of Siraf, Iran, or Nishapur, Iran.
