Japan, Saga Prefecture (Hizen), Arita, Nangawara kilns (Kakiemon). Plate, porcelain with overglaze enamel decoration. Kakiemon ware. One of four. Flat bottom, short sides turn out, short scalloped rim that turns up. Underglaze blue double ring near center with design of two birds (partridges?) within; one in yellow, the other in blue enamel with black detail. Two flowering trees and bamboo outside the rings in blue, green, and yellow enamels with red flowers. Cark blue underglaze saw-tooth pattern on underside, with red zig-zag band near foot. Height 2.5 centimeters, rim diameter 20 centimeters.
