Cruet-shaped glass bottle covered with twined basketry. Tag "Klamath River Tribes att.". Per Ralph Shanks: Twined basketry covered glass bottle with damaged glass stopper. Crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably willow or hazel. The weft material is conifer root and perhaps another darker material at the neck. The weft design overlay is maidenhair fern, red-dyed woodwardia and a beargrass background. Starting after the starting knot there are two weft rows of plain twining, followed by .25 inch of three strand twining, followed by 2.5 inches of plain twining, followed by .25 inch of three strand twining, followed by plain twining all the way up to the neck where there is plain twining over two warps for the last 2.25 inches. The main design is a horizontal band of six alternating orientation triangles rimmed with flag-like protrusions. The rim is trimmed. The basket has a rightward work direction, with an up to the right slant of weft twist. The workface is on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California.
