Description: "14 1/2 in. x 1 3/8 in." "hardwood, quadrangular, round handle." "1. "i`e kuku", a finishing beater. Two sides have the "ho`opa`i halua" surfaces (see p. 172 Fig. 112 b); one side with 8 grooves, the other with 9 (cross grooves too worn to count). One side is like Fig. 112 c. The remaining side is grooved (20) with an overlay of the "upena halua pupu" pattern (see p. 173, Fig. 114-c). Beaters were made by male specialists for use by females." Remarks: "1.
