8 x 10" Negative. Village of Kiya Be, French Congo. Image shows a gathering in the distance, a dance performed in response to the arrival of the Colorado African Expedition team. Hoefler's original description: "Inside the village of Kiya Be. The Sara-Kyabe arranged a dance for us at which all the women with the disks gathered. This is one of the most out of the way places on earth, very seldom visited by white men. We were the first to visit here in thirty years with the exception of some French officers who came to put a stop to the practice of distending the lips.
