- Description:
- Kokopelli katsina (kachina); carved and painted figure. Wears a case mask painted black with a white stripe at center of face, over crown of head and down back. Brown fur ruff at neck. Tear-drop shaped eyes (white and black) and upturned "beak" also white. Rounded, flat, red, eyes on each side; black and white yarn strands and single feathers form headdress. Figure is human with bare chest and wearing white trousers and Taos boots. Turquoise leather armlets, turquoise and coral bracelet on left wrist, black yarn wristlet and knee bands with tassels; fringed leather anklets. Leather belt at waist; black yarn bandolier right to left across chest and back. Leather bag held in left hand. A.L. Sahmie, carver.
