Description:
4 x 5" Black and white negative of wild boars near Chambal River. Hoefler's original description: "Indian Wild Animals. A full grown wild boar, such as anyone of several shown in this picture, will attack a tiger without the least compunction. The natives say that no leopard will attack a wild boar because he knows he will be bested in any encounter with them. In some states, these animals are trapped and placed in stockades to fight leopards and tigers. In every instance which Hoefler investigated, the boar bested the leopard. The tiger, because of his superior strength, often conquers this ferocious pig, which has absolutely no sense of fear.
