Description:
4" x 5" Negative. A N'jemps Kidogo bowman poses for the camera, bending down on one knee and drawing his bow, an arrow notched. Hoefler's original description: "A N'jemps Kidogo bowman. While this war-like tribe depends, in the most part, on their spears, both for attack and defense, still they are experts also with the bow and arrows, and use them a good deal in securing animal food. Note the peculiar way in which this man is wearing his hair. It is braided into long strings with the assistance of mutton tallow. Most of the war-like tribes in East Africa sport this kind of headdress. These wild men are expert marksmen with this ancient weapon.
