Spearhead. Iron barbed spearhead. Length 31.2 centimeters. From Niger, vicinity of Lake Chad, N'guigmi Market. Context of use: Collector Kate Delos says used by Lake Chad fisherman but may be from a fighting spear. There is a species of whitefish (locally called "captain"), which grow 4 to 5 feet in length in Lake Chad. This spearhead was collected in the local marketplace and Delos was told that it was used to catch these fish.
