Japan, Saga Prefecture (Hizen), Arita, Nangawara kilns (Kakiemon). Plate, porcelain with overglaze enamel decoration. Kakiemon ware. One of four. Flat bottom, shallow sides turn out, short scalloped rim that turns up. Underglaze blue double ring near center. Two birds (partridges?), one in yellow, the other in blue enamel with black detail within the rings. Two flowering trees and bamboo outside the rings in blue, green, and yellow enamel with red flowers. Dark blue underglaze saw-tooth pattern band on undersides with red zig-zag band near foot. Height 2.5 centimeters, rim diameter 20 centimeters.
