Description:
4" x 5" Negative. Expedition party posing with tied up cheetah. Hoefler's original description: "Captured cheetah. The cheetah or hunting leopard of India, is the fastest of all animals for a short distance, but any horse or motor car can easily ride him down as he cannot long keep up the pace. We intended to keep this animal as a pet, but after capturing him we found that he was a bit too old to become very tame in the time we had to train him, so let him go without any harm to himself. Found this cheetah in an exhausted condition and had him roped to carry with us, but afterwards gave him some water and meat, then turned him loose again.
