Coiled, black and brown design, cross-stitch edge. Per Ralph Shanks: Basket bowl, coiled. Foundation is three-rod willow. The background material is willow. The design materials are redbud and bulrush root. The designs include a horizontal zigzag band around the center of the basket, triangles at the rim, and rectangles on the base. The basket has an exterior workface and is woven in a leftward work direction with interlocking stitches. The weft fag ends are clipped. The rim is braided with criss-crossed stitch and a slightly tapered coil ending. The leftward work direction, the interlocking stitch, and the design pattern make this likeley to be a Washoe basket.
